Knitting Needle Size8 or 5 mm

  • Naturally Caron Country 6 skeins
  • One circular US size 8 (5.5 mm) ciruclar needle, 32" long
  • Crochet hook US size G/6 (4 mm)
  • Cable needle (cn)


KNITTED MEASUREMENTS
54” x 60” long

GAUGE
16 sts and 18 rows = 4" (10 cm)

STITCHES USED
Reverse Stockinette Stitch (Reverse St st): Purl on RS, knit on WS.
Single crochet (sc)
Treble crochet (tr)
Picot: Ch 3, slip stitch in 3rd chain from hook.

STITCH PATTERN
Cable Pattern (worked on 8 sts):

Rows (WS) 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9: P3, k2, p3.
Row 2 and all even- numbered rows (RS): Knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts as they face you.
Row 10 (RS): Slip 4 sts to cable needle (cn) and hold in front of work, k next 4 sts, k 4 sts from cn.
Rows 11 and 13: Purl.
Rows 14(RS): Slip 4 sts to cn and hold in front of work, k next 3 sts, p next st, then (p 1, k 3) on st from cn.
Rows 15, 17, 19, 21 and 23: P3, k2, p 3.
Rep Rows 10-24 for cable pattern.


Blackberry Pattern Stitch (multiple of 4 sts + 2):
Row1 (WS): K1, *[k1, p1, k1] into next st, p3tog; rep from* to last st, k1
Rows 2 and 4: Purl.
Row 3: K1, *p3 tog, [k1, p1, k1] in next st; rep from *to last st, k1
Rep Rows 1-4 for Blackberry Pattern.

THROW
Cast on 170 sts.
Row 1 (WS): *K3, Row 1 of Cable Pattern across 8 sts, k3, Row 1 of Blackberry Pattern 4-st rep on next 64 sts*; rep from * to * to within last 14 sts, k3, Row 1 of Cable Pattern across 8 sts, k3.
Row 2 and all even-numbered rows (RS): *P3, Row 2 of Cable Pattern across 8 sts, p3, Row 2 of Blackberry Pattern 4-st rep on next 64 sts; rep from * to * to within last 14 sts, p3, Row 2 of Cable Pattern across 8 sts, p3.
Rows 3, 5, 7 and 9: *K3, continue Cable Pattern across 8 sts, k3, continue Blackberry Pattern 4-st rep across next 64 sts; rep from * to * to within last 14 sts, k3, continue Cable Pattern across 8 sts, k3.
Rows 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 (RS): *P3, continue Cable Pattern across 8 sts, p3, continue Blackberry Pattern 4-st rep across next 64 sts; rep from * to * to within last 14 sts, p3, continue Cable Pattern across 8 sts, p3.
Rows 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21 and 23: *K3, continue Cable Pattern across 8 sts, k3, continue Blackberry Pattern 4-st rep across next 64 sts; rep from * to * to within last 14 sts, k3, continue Cable Pattern across 8 sts, k3.
Repeat Rows 10-24 until piece measures approximately 50” from beg. Bind off all sts loosely.

FINISHING
With RS facing and crochet hook, work an even number of sc along each side of Throw working 3 sc in each corner.
Fasten off.


Shell Trim:
Round 1: Beg in corner sc, ch 4, 4 tr in same sc, *skip 2 sc, sc in next sc, ch 4, 2 tr in same sc; rep from * around Throw working ch 4, 4 tr in each corner sc.
Round 2: *In next ch-4 space (work 4 sc, ch 4, 2 tr, picot, 3 tr); rep from * around. Fasten off.


Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
