  • One pair size U.S. 10 (6mm) needles or size to obtain gauge
  • One crochet hook size U.S. G/6 (4mm)
  • Cable needle (cn)
  • Yarn needle

KNITTED MEASUREMENTS
Chest 34 (38, 42)”/86.5 (96.5, 106.5)cm circumference

GAUGE
In Stockinette Stitch using size U.S 10 (6mm) needles, 16 sts and 20 rows = 4”/10cm
Cable insert measures approx 9”/23cm long by 3 ½"/9cm wide

SPECIAL TERMS
C6B: Sl 3 sts to cn and hold in back, k3, k3 from cn.
C6F: Sl 3 sts to cn and hold in front, k3, k3 from cn.

STITCHES USED
Stockinette Stitch (St st):
Knit RS rows and purl WS rows.

NOTES
When increasing, knit 1 in stitch in row below.

When slipping stitches, slip knitwise on knit rows and slip purlwise with yarn in front on purl rows.

BO. Do not cut off. Last loop on needle counts as first loop when sts are picked up along side edge below.
Row 56: Working along one side edge of previous rows, pick up 51 sts—52 sts on needle for cowl portion.  Note: For a neater edge, sl the first st of each row hereafter.

Row 58 (RS): (K4, yo) across to last 4 sts, k4.
Row 59: P64.
Work in St st until cowl portion measures 30 (34, 38)”, end with a WS row.
Next row: (K4, drop 1 st off left needle) across to last 4 sts, k4.
Next row: P across 52 sts.
BO.

 

FINISHING
Pull apart the sts at the dropped st location so that they are separated to Row 58.  Seam BO row to opposite side edge of cable insert. (Note: For best results, use crochet slip stitch to seam.)  Using yarn needle, weave in all ends securely.
