Yarn Weight(3) Light/DK (21-24 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:

  • RED HEART® Anne Geddes Baby™: 1 ball each 902 Ladybug A, 112 Night-night B and 100 Lily C
  • Susan Bates® Knitting Needles: 3.5mm [US 4]
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle


GAUGE: 21 sts = 4” [10 cm]; 32 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

k = knit
k2tog = knit 2 sts together

* or ** = repeat whatever follows the * or ** as indicated.

Booties measure 4” [10 cm] long


BOOTIES
With A, cast on 28 sts.
Work in St st for 3½” [9 cm] from beginning, end with a wrong side row.
Cut A and join B. Work 2 rows in St st.


Shape Toe
Row 1 (Right Side): *K2, k2tog; repeat from * across – 21 sts.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: *K1, k2tog; repeat from * across – 14 sts.
Row 4: Purl.
Row 5: [K2tog] 7 times – 7 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining sts and pull to close. Knot to secure.


FINISHING
Sew 2½” [6.4 cm] from Toe closed along edge.


Cuff
With right side facing, join C at last st of first row, pick up and knit 28 sts along edge of Ankle to first st of first row.
Knit 3 rows.
Bind off.


Fold cast-on edge in half and sew closed for back seam. Using B, embroider a line up the center of foot in chain st. Work French knots randomly on either side of chain sts for ladybug spots.


Weave in ends.
