Emanuel Congregation Stitching Ladies

During World War II, the Emanuel Congregation Sewing Ladies sewed for the Red Cross. After the war, they continued their social action activities by knitting and crocheting for charity. Carrying on that tradition as the Emanuel Congregation Stitching Ladies, we knit, crochet, and sew items that we donate to local hospitals and social service agencies for distribution to their clients.

Join us on Tuesday mornings from 9:00 am --12:30 pm at Emanuel Congregation, 5959 North Sheridan Road, Chicago. Our volunteers are all religions and ages. What they have in common is a willingness to help others. We make afghans, caps, booties, and sweaters for preemies and infants; hats, scarves, mittens and clothing for children and adults; and ponchos, shawls, and lap afghans for adults. We welcome new volunteers as well as contributions of yarn and new knitted or crocheted items.
