Michael Sellick is the energetic creator & instructor for The Crochet Crowd that is featured on YouTube. He has created a community that is not hung up on the technical terms of crochet, but to take the “grandma idea” into a sexy and adventurous world exploring the latest new yarns. He teaches new crochet techniques for those that can't read patterns and provides free patterns for the novice by creating simple, yet crazy trendy ideas for everyone, from the newbie beginner, to the expert lover of the crochet arts. With over 1.2 million video views that are watched each month, his free video library with over 1,400 videos are well used. The Crochet Crowd’s Facebook Community was created to provide ‘The Crowd’ a place to share pictures, ask questions, telltale inspiring ideas through links and much more. Together on Facebook, we have inspired thousands to connect their passion with their favourite yarn balls all thanks to the amazing World Wide Web. Who knew that crochet was going to be popular again? But with The Crochet Crowd, you too can be part of the exciting art of crocheting.
Back in 2008, Michael Sellick was isolated and lonely in a small town with no creative outlets. He turned to YouTube to reach out and created 10 tutorials on how to crochet. Mikey Averages 50-80 hours per week online building friendships, videos and much more, and in less than one year, he became a YouTube partner. Millions of viewers are now tuning in on how to crochet. In 2009, Mikey introduced Loom Knitting as another addictive yarn hobby.
Mikey’s energy is raw enthusiastic passion of bringing an idea from the mind, playing with some yarn to form a shape, then pushing limits to see what more can be done. Mikey never tells viewers to do it a certain way instead he encourages people to absorb the idea and do the steps, but then expand it to suit the viewer’s ideas. It’s about sharing and connectivity, you will find many free patterns on his highly organized website http://thecrochetcrowd.com, many patterns have matching videos to go with it.
Michael has been busy creating crochet videos especially for AllFreeCrochet. You can see them on our YouTube channels. In addition, you can find his entire video library on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/mikeyssmail
