What does WS stand for in the instructions?

WS means wrong side in knitting.

For some reason, I really like this hat. I saw it yesterday and keep coming back to it. It looks very simple and quick to make, but I wonder how stretchy it would be? Would it stretch out over time? It would have to fit pretty snug to keep one warm.
