I too am disappointed that there is only the child's size although I understand the designers need to make money on their designs somehow, but must say that while I would be happy to knit the size that is available, I have no knowledge of transposing continental to Canadian -- shall have to learn this art

I am disappointed - only one size is free. So it is not a free pattern. It requires that you purchase the directions. It also gives info in continental measurements which requires additional thought and configuration for American knitters.

Fabulous classic sweater, cant wait to knit it, thankyou. :)

Pattern issue - I do not understand how and exactly where to attach the sleeves. They are knitted in the round. I managed to calculate the size I needed but like others, feel all sizes should be public. Regardless, it seems really easy to do and coming along well but I just cannot figure out how to add the sleeves directly onto the body of the sweater. PLEASE SEND MORE DETAIL!!! Thank you!

Picture shows an adult???????Why is "FREE" pattern only in child size????????

Are there any knitting pattern that Don't use circular needles. Or can you just use straight ones of the same size?

Why are not ALL the sizes made available for free? Is is ass-umed, (pun intended) that everyone wears the same size or you're screwed?

It is too bad when people think they are smarter than you and try to pull the wool over your eyes. (Pun unintended). I am new as I get deeper and deeper into you "All Free Knitting" site, I am finding a lot of things that make this site, not so rosy.

I have enjoyed this site for a long time and have shared many patterns but after reading this today I just might unsubscribe. I do not like being "fooled" in to thinking a pattern is free then finding out that it is NOT!! I think a mistake was made here and you might give it a second thought before posting something like this for your followers!

Oh how lame..I agree with everyone, patterns listed here should be totally free..thats the point of the website, otherwise if you are only going to offer one size then at least show a picture of the size offered for free rather then a womans sweater. i get the point..if you like it enough you will buy your size..i also think its a rather sneaky way to get around the word free...NEXT!!!!!!

I agree with other poster! Would love to knit this but. Can't when the pattern is for a child. Patterns that aren't free for all sizes shouldn't be listed on this site.

I like the pattern and would make it but it's not really free when only one size is offered and a child's size at that.

I have just started this sweater and cannot wait to get it finished. I bought the yarn from Pickles and it is so soft! It is just Yummy!!!

I'm Betty. This is going to be my new work sweater. I have no clue what I'm making it out of, but you can bet I'm buying the yarn next time I get to Billings.

I think this is just the sweater I've been looking for. Too bad the posted (free) instructions are for youth 10-12 y ONLY and you have to purchase any other sizes.

This does truly look retro, like one of the first sweaters my mom knitted for my father back in the early '60s. I remember looking through her patterns as an early knitter and seeing this sweater!

I am off to find yarn for this excited! it's been a long time since I made something just for me!

The name says it all!!. I'll make it just because
