The Scarf of Many Colors

The Scarf of Many Colors
The Scarf of Many Colors

If your yarn stash is overflowing, then this pattern for The Scarf of Many Colors is for you! Bright, colorful, and unique, the easy knitting pattern is a great way to make the most of the odds-and-ends you have on hand. Just keep in mind you will use a crochet hook for one part of the pattern.

From the blogger: "This knitting project will help you use up some of the small amounts of yarn leftovers you may have in your stash. About 30 different yarns were used to knit this scarf ...some yarns got used up and others were reduced tremendously. Since the colors make this scarf unique and beautiful, the stitch used was a stockinette to keep it simple. That way the color effect could be more appreciated. An easy to learn technique was used for changing the colors so that they all blend well together. Many times the stockinette stitch will cause an object to curl some on the sides. This scarf was knitted wider to adjust for that."

This pattern says work on circular needles, but then says knit the first row, then purl the second row? So, am I supposed to knit back and forth and not around, if so why are we to use circular needles? Please help.

The scarf is knit flat, but the circular needles will distribute the weight better and more evenly than straight needles will and many experienced knitters prefer to work with them exclusively.

Thank you. So, knit flat? Does this mean when I finished the first row, I turn the knitting and purl back for the 2nd row?

yes, you will flip your work at the end of each row and work back and forth as if working with straight needles.

Thank you Lisa. You wouldn't think I have 60 years knitting experience. Thanks again, Kath.

This is gorgeous. I love the textures and colors of this pattern, and how versatile it is. Fabulous!

I know your comment was from 2018, but I have a query with this pattern. Thought you might be able to help? Thanks
