This scarf knitting pattern is worked horizontally in rows of garter stitch (knit every row) stripes. This knit scarf pattern is worked on circular needles to accommodate the large number of stitches, but do not join. The colors in the scarf are very current and very pretty. The mixture of tones work nicely for this time of the year and will match so many of my outfits that I need to accessorize. This is a great beginner project because the entire project is just knitting stitches with no other skills needed.

I would not recommend this pattern for a new knitter, many of the colour changes occur on the wrong side of the work, leaving that awful "bleed through" line that will make every scarf made out of the pattern look riddled with mistakes.

A very cute beginner friendly pattern. The entire scarf is worked in the garter stitch which is the very first stitch that you will do when learning to knit. A link to a video tutorial of how to do the garter stitch is also included. There are several color changes that a beginner may need to practice before beginning.

This reminds me of a scarf I knitted for one of my grand daughters! I did it in 8 ply, with size 6 needles, and used shades of pink and maroon. it turned out nice and long and she was really impressed. Might try again with the thicker wool and bigger needles as you suggest. I like it!

I like scarves that are knit horizontally. Casting on that large number of stitches is a pain in the beginning but you can continually change colors which makes it interesting. It is a good way to use up your stash. No two scarves have to be alike. It is a good way to match your outfits as well. Thank you.

another attractive and stylish scarf - I begin to think that my life story will be knit in scarves and cowls from patterns I dound here
