French Inspired Knitted Coasters

By: Cate Holst from Go Make Me
French Inspired Knitted Coasters

There's something so lovely about these French Inspired Knitted Coasters. This vintage-inspired knitted coaster pattern calls to mind carefree afternoons spent at an outdoor coffee shop, sipping on espresso and snacking on lady fingers. Perfect for adding a touch of old fashioned charm to any coffee table or cocktail cart, the French Inspired Knitted Coasters are a unique way to infuse a little European flare into your home, apartment, or dorm room.

These are definitely on my to do list! A kitchen or craft cotton yarn would help these coasters absorb condensation or minor spills. An ecru colored cotton yarn would go well with earthy colored yarns. A variegated yarn would also make a pretty pop of color. There is also a video showing how to slip a stitch.

The coasters will be great to have on a wooden kitchen table! The red border on the beige looks really nice, though I will make the other one, too! Maybe I will make a set of four - two of each! The pattern is simple enough and what a great weekend project this would be!

How about you take this pattern one step further? I think you could make as many of these as you like, using a different color stripe on each. That way when people set their drink down all they have to do is use one and remember the color. Easy peasy way to keep track of your beverage.
