"Hi, I can't find the knitting pattern for this book, can I have it please?"
"With the page open, right click on your mouse, this will open a new window, in the new window scroll down to and click on print. That will take you to print review, in print preview change "all" to just the pages that the pattern is on and click print. Using the cut and copy feature to paste the document into another program for printing is actually a violation of international copyright laws, but printing directly from the page is permitted. Hope this helps someone. Happy knitting!"
"This is not a free pattern, so not sure why it is still featured on an "all free knitting" website."

to correct a previous my previous comment it should say you can't knot the ends of this yarn, they must be sewn over because of the chenille texture of the yarn.
May 02, 2018
For the people having difficulty with this blanket you can knot this yarn to join it, its chenille it the ends are sewn together with a needle and matching thread, a lot less yarn wasted on joins. for the people who can't get the size, its a gauge issue, you can't arbitrarily decide to go up 23 needle sizes and expect the pattern to work out. For the new knitter's this is a very basic pattern and is good to improve your skills, but you will need to know how to change colours in order to work the pattern. I've made 6 of these and I did have to go up to a size 15 needle to obtain the gauge. Hope this helps someone.

I love this pattern! But, I think the needle size is incorrect. I used size 11 knitting needles and with 57 stitches cast on it would have only been about 18 inches or so wide (I am using the same yarn as in the pattern). I did a few rows with 115 stitches. It wasn't looking anything like the picture. I have ordered size 36 needles and will see if that works better. I love the yarn recommendation! It is so soft and cuddly! I can't wait to make this. Thank you for posting the pattern!

did you make this blanket? if so, what did you end up using? i'm new to knitting and bought the yarn and needles before i read your comment.

If you are having a size issue, the problem is your gauge, not the pattern. The gauge is 7 stitches to 4", with a 57 stitch cast on in gauge makes a 32-33" wide blanket, 57 divided by 7 = 8.14 x 4 = 32.57. This yarn blooms slightly when knit, so it will relax a bit after it is knit and be slightly bigger than the pattern specifies, if you obtain gauge. You cannot arbitrarily decide to go up 23 needle sizes and expect the pattern to work out, that's just not how knitting works. Happy knitting

cuddly and fun to knit - except I did not knit it for a baby, but for my almost grown-up pup

What does (WS) mean in Row 1 and last Row? Wrong Side?? Just beginning so difficult to rate. Probably 5 as seems simple otherwise.

Hello quilterggma! Yes, "WS" stands for "wrong side." Hope this helps! -Editors of AllFreeKnitting

To more experienced knitters, would it work to crochet a Slip Stitch around edges of blanket to finish it off? Or will that stiffen it?

I'm loving this baby blanket pattern! There are a few babies in my life and I don't know who to make a blanket for first!

I love this blanket but I don't knit, I crochet. Anyone have any idea how to convert this to a crochet pattern? Thanks in advance!!

By chance, has anyone found a youtube video for this blanket? I'm trying to learn how to knit (this is my first project) and I don't full understand what some of the steps mean or how to do them.

Hello pranden, have you tried the Russian join or another spliced yarn technique. I saw that Knitca on youtube has a tutorial for working with chunky yarn via a split yarn method. Look for "How to join a new ball of chunky yarn" or there are some other suggestions and instructions to be found there such as the braided join.

This is so cute. Sadly I can't join the yarn adequately. The magic knot method slips completely out when I pull it tight. I tried knitting the ends in but that made it too thick and there was white stripes in the tan where I did that in the first 3 stitches. Any advice?

This baby blanket is just so adorable! I need to make one for my nephew!

Using needle size suggested and the bernat baby blanket yarn super bulky as in pattern 57 cast ons just doesnt seem to be wide enough to match pattern. What might I be doing wrong.
Mar 09, 2016
This is an adorable little blanket. The simple garter stitch pattern might remind knitters of their first efforts at knitting a scarf. The bulky yarn will make the knitting go fast and you should be able to finish this blanket in no time. Bernat Baby Blanket yarn comes in a nice selection of prints and solids so you should be able to match it to baby's nursery.

I can only find it in 100 gram balls. How many do I need?
Oct 14, 2015
100g balls are 86 yards and you need 177 yards of each colour for the blanket, so you will need 3 in each colour.

Does it have to be knitted on circular needles?
Oct 14, 2015
it could be knit on straight needles because it is only a 57 stitch cast on, but it will be easier to knit it on circs using them like straight needles because of the bulky weight of the yarn.

I am new to knitting...What does WS mean in the pattern?
Jun 08, 2015
Hey there, janicesmith! In knitting, "WS" means "wrong side;" in other words, the side of your fabric that wouldn't be visible, such as the inside of a cowl or sweater. I hope that helps! Happy knitting! -Editors of AllFreeKnitting

Oct 01, 2014

I'm confused. The yarn weight says (2) 23 to 26 stitches per 4 inches, but the pattern says the gauge is 7 stitches or 14 rows per 4 inches. The picture looks like a bulky yarn instead of fine? Is there an error?
Jul 06, 2014
I went to the yarnspirations website and found the pattern and the yarn. It is NOT a 2 it is in fact a 6-I wondered when I read this, because I've used this yarn before and remembered it being very heavy. I will just ignore the reference to it being a 2-this appears to be an error. hope this helps, happy knitting.
