This is really a great idea or a baby blanket. The way the pattern is written you have different colors but you are not overwhelmed with too many squares. Also it is just garter stitch so it is easy for a beginner and also a project you can easily do watching tv or a movie. Or in a busy craft meeting where you don't have to concentrate too hard. Good way to use up yarn if you want to add more colors and change the color scheme up a bit. I love it! Thank you!

Each square is two colors, so the diagram makes it look like 50, when it is in fact 25.

This is a very pretty baby blanket and a great size, though with the knit rectangles it would be simple enough to change the size up or down. I love the color combination the designer used for this blanket, but changing colors to suit your personal color scheme would be easy enough to do. This is a good beginners project with no difficult stitches or instructions.
