Knitting Needle Size9 or 5.5 mm

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:

  • Happy Holidays (100 g/3.5 oz;219 m/240 yds)
    Color A: 31709 (Twinkly White) 5 balls
    Color B: 31711 (Glittery Green) 4 balls
    Color C: 31710 (Silvered Red) 4 balls
  • Size 5.5 mm (U.S. 9) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge

 


GAUGE: 16 sts and 22 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking stitch.

 

Approx 60 ins [152.5 cm] square.


ABBREVIATIONS
pat = pattern
psso = pass slipped stitch over
Sl1 = Slip next stitch knitwise.
WS = wrong side

Stripe Pat A
With C, knit 8 rows.
With A, knit 8 rows.
These 16 rows form Stripe Pat A.

Stripe Pat B
With B, knit 4 rows.
With A, knit 4 rows.
These 8 rows form Stripe Pat B.


INSTRUCTIONS

Motif A (make 20).

With C, cast on 83 sts.
1st row: (WS). Knit.
Beg working Stripe Pat A, and proceed as follows:
2nd row: K40. Sl1. K2tog. psso. Place marker on last st. K40.
3rd and alt rows: Knit.
4th row: Knit to 1 st before marked st. Sl1. K2tog. psso. Knit to end of row.
First 4 rows of Stripe Pat A are complete.
Keeping cont of Stripe Pat A, rep last 2 rows to 3 sts.
Next row: With A, sl1. K2tog. psso. Fasten off .

Motif B (make 16).
With B, cast on 83 sts.
1st row: (WS). Knit.
Keeping cont of Stripe Pat B, work as for Motif A.
Finishing: Sew Motifs tog using fl at seam as shown in diagram.
