Growing up in Belgium string bags were a common sight as women did their marketing, easily tucked into a handbag or pocket when empty, and easily stretching to accommodate the most amazing amount of bundles and packages of all sizes and shapes. Plastic bags are environmentally disastrous, the available reusable bags are limited in what they can carry.. we should all take a bit of time and knit a couple of these for shopping times.
