Caribbean Dreams Scarf



Fall in love with this cable knit scarf pattern that features oversized braided cables on either end of the scarf and an attractive textured middle potion. Knitting Needle Size: 8 or 5 mm

Yarn Weight: (4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Finished Measurements: 60” long x 6” wide.


  • RED HEART® Soft™: 2 balls 2515 Turquoise.
  • Knitting Needles: 5mm [US 8].
  • Stitch markers, cable needle, yarn needle.

GAUGE: 18 sts = 4”; 28 rows = 4” in garter st. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

Special Stitches
1X1 Rib:
Row 1 (Right Side): *K1, p1; repeat from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: *P1, k1; repeat from * to last st, p1.
Repeat Rows 1-2 for 1X1 Rib pattern.

Braid Cable (worked over 12 sts):
Row 1 (Right Side): Knit.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: Slip 4 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k4, k4 from cable needle, k4.
Rows 4, 6 & 8: Purl.
Rows 5 & 7: Knit.
Row 9: K4, slip 4 sts to cable needle and hold in front, k4, k4 from cable needle.
Row 10: Purl.
Row 11: Knit.
Row 12: Purl.
Repeat Rows 1-12 for Braid Cable.

Cast on 41 sts. Work in 1X1 rib for 12 rows, decrease 6 sts evenly on last row – 35 sts.
Row 1 (Right Side): K1, place marker, work Row 1 of Braid Cable, place marker, k9, place marker, work Row 1
of Braid Cable, place marker, k1.
Row 2: K1, slip marker, work Row 2 of Braid Cable, slip marker, k9, slip marker, work Row 1 of Braid Cable, slip marker, k1.
Continue in pattern until piece measures 58”, ending with Row 11 of Braid Cable. Work in 1X1 rib for 12 rows, increase 6 sts evenly on first row – 41 sts. Bind off.

Weave in ends.
