This is a really quick knit and would make a terrific gift. The texture is really interesting and unique. A simple solid color of yarn lets the texture shine, particularly when made long enough loop over the neck twice. This is a fun project for a beginning knitter with enough experience to want to move beyond simple garter stitch patterns. Of course, all levels enjoy a quick project that looks this good.

This scarf has a great, interesting visual texture. I like that it calls for a chunky yarn so that it should work up very quickly. And it's an easy pattern that doesn't require a lot of intense concentration so I can knit and watch TV without losing my place.
