I remember hanging candy canes on our Christmas tree when I was younger. For an interesting twist an on old tradition, try using this free knitting pattern to create a cute Candy Cane Cozy topped with a red button.

Cute as a button! I did some in worsted yarn, using red, white, green. Made up so quick and easy was able to make one for each of my friends in no time at all, and printed off the legend of the candy cane to put with it, laminated the legend as a book marker, made for some nice gifts at a low cost!

I did my own take on this using my thicker old fashioned candy canes. I added a cable and bobble panel and skipped the button. Would share a pic if possible.

I made some of these last year and they were a HUGE hit. I put one at each place setting. What a great little, and VERY easy pattern.

These look fabulous. I recylce my tree candy canes each year, and this year got some old fashioned looking ones. Thick and handmade. I think they will look great in these, so I plan to make several. We even got a fake tree on sale that lends itself to more old fashioned new englend feeling decorations. Can't wait for 2011 Christmas now!!!! Best part is the thick red lines of my canes will make them still show up. I think the whole thing will look striking!

I am just learning to crochet. The candy cane cozy is so cute and I just wondered if you have a crochet pattern for this. This would be a next Christmas project for sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Martha McBee (Gigibee@Peoplepc.com)
