  • Caron® Simply Baby™ (Ombres: 2.8 oz /80 g; 138 yds/126 m): Atta Girl (05006) - 2 (2, 3, 4) balls
  • Sizes U.S. 9 (5.5 mm) and U.S. 10 (6 mm) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • 2 Stitch holders.
  • 4 Stitch markers.

To fit chest measurement:
3 Months: 16" [40.5 cm]
6 Months: 17 [43 cm]
12 Months: 18 [45.5 cm]
18 Months: 20 [51 cm]

Finished chest
3 Months: 19" [48 cm]
6 Months: 20 [51 cm]
12 Months: 22 [56 cm]
18 Months: 24 [61 cm]

Gauge:

16 sts and 21 rows = 4” [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st.

Instructions:
NOTE: The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).

BACK
**With smaller needles, cast on 36 (38-42-46) sts.
Knit 5 rows (garter st), inc 2 sts evenly across last row. 38 (40-44-48) sts.

Change to larger needles. Beg with a knit row, proceed in stocking st until work from beg measures 6 (7½-7½-9)" [15 (19-19-23) cm], ending on a purl row.

Shape armholes: Cast off 2 (2-3-3) sts beg next 2 rows. 34 (36-38-42) sts.
**Cont even in stocking st until armhole measures 5 (5½-5¾-6)" [12.5 (14-14.5-15) cm], ending on a purl row.

Shoulders: Cast off 7 (8-8-10) sts beg next 2 rows.
Leave rem 20 (20-22-22) sts on st holder.

FRONT
Work from ** to ** as for Back.
Cont even in stocking st until armhole measures 2¼ (2¾-2¾-3)" [5.5 (7-7-7.5) cm], ending on a purl row.

Shape neck: Next row: (RS). K12 (13-13-15). Turn. Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 5 rows. 7 (8-8-10) sts rem.
Cont even until armhole measures same length as Back before shoulder, ending on a purl row. Cast off.

With RS facing, slip next 10 (10-12-12) sts onto a st holder. Join yarn to rem sts and knit to end of row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 5 rows. 7 (8-8-10) sts rem.
Cont even until armhole measures same length as Back before shoulder, ending on a purl row. Cast off.

SLEEVES
With smaller needles, cast on 22 (22-24-24) sts. Knit 5 rows, inc 2 sts evenly across last row. 24 (24-26-26) sts.
Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st, inc 1 st each end of needle on 3rd and every following alt row to 40 (44-46-48) sts.
Cont even until Sleeve from beg measures 5 (5½-6½-7¼)" [12.5 (14-16.5-18.5) cm], ending on purl row. PM at each end of last row.
Work 4 (4-6-6) rows even. Cast off.

FINISHING
Sew right shoulder seam. With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 14 (15-17-18) sts down left front neck edge, K10 (10-12-12) from front st holder, pick up and knit14 (15-17-18) sts up right front neck edge, K20 (20-22-22) from back st holder. 58 (60-68-70) sts. Knit 1 row. Cast off.
Sew left shoulder seam. Sew in Sleeves, placing rows above markers along cast off sts of Front and Back to form square armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams.
